A plant-based “vegetable silk”
Sabra — often called cactus silk — is a traditional Moroccan weave made from plant-based fiber with a natural, silk-like sheen. It is not animal silk; the luster comes from the fiber and the handweaving itself.
Soft, with character
Expect a smooth hand with gentle texture from the loom — slubs, raised motifs, and a sheen that shifts with the light. That irregularity is the point: it cannot be printed.
Cared for, it lasts

What is Sabra (cactus) silk?
Sabra is a traditional Moroccan textile handwoven from plant-based fiber, prized for its natural texture and subtle, light-catching sheen. Each piece is made by hand in small batches, so no two are exactly alike.
Is cactus silk real silk?
No — and that is by design. Sabra is a plant-based “vegetable silk”: it contains no animal silk, yet carries a similar luster. If you avoid animal fibers, Sabra is a natural fit.
Will the colors vary from the photos?
Slightly, yes — naturally dyed, handwoven textiles vary in color, weave, and texture from piece to piece and can render differently on screens. These variations are the signature of authentic handwork, and every piece is photographed individually.
Will these work with a modern, grey, or beige sofa?
Yes — Berber motifs are geometric, so they read as modern graphic design rather than folk clutter. Use the sofa color selector above: warm earth tones for beige and cream, azure and ivory for grey, one jewel tone for white sofas.
