At Tigemi, your satisfaction matters to us. If you are not completely happy with your purchase, we’ve designed our return process to be simple, fair, and transparent. This policy applies to all orders placed through tigemi.com.
Because the United States no longer offers a $800 de minimis customs exemption, every Tigemi shipment to the U.S. is subject to import duties, taxes, and carrier brokerage fees collected upon delivery. As clearly stated on our Shipping Policy page and confirmed by the customer at checkout, these fees are the sole responsibility of the recipient, who acts as the importer of record. This clause governs what happens when those fees are not paid.
If you refuse, decline, or otherwise fail to pay the customs duties, import taxes, or carrier clearance fees assessed on your delivery, DHL Express — at its sole discretion — will either return the package to Morocco or abandon / destroy it under their internal procedures. Tigemi has no control over this decision.
If the package is abandoned, destroyed, or otherwise not returned to us as a result of unpaid customs charges, no refund of any kind will be issued. The product was correctly manufactured, packed, and shipped in accordance with your order, and the loss results entirely from non-payment of legally owed import charges by the recipient. This is non-negotiable and not subject to dispute.
In the limited cases where DHL Express is able to return the abandoned parcel to our atelier in Morocco — and only after we have physically received and inspected the goods — a partial refund covering the product value only may be issued, less the following deductions:
In practice, refunds issued under this clause typically represent between 40% and 60% of the original order value. Tigemi reserves the right to refuse a refund entirely if the returned product arrives damaged, soiled, or otherwise unsellable.
The deductions described in Section 3 also apply to packages returned to us because of: an incorrect, incomplete, or undeliverable address supplied by the customer; repeated failed delivery attempts where the customer was unavailable; or refusal of the package at the door for any reason other than visible exterior damage documented at delivery.
By placing an order with Tigemi, you acknowledge that you have read and accepted this clause in full, alongside our Shipping Policy and general Refund Policy. You have 30 days from the date of delivery to initiate a return. To be eligible:
Handwoven items naturally show slight variations in color, pattern, and texture. These are signatures of authentic craftsmanship, not defects, and are not grounds for return.

For all other returns (change of mind, color, or size preference), the customer is responsible for return shipping costs. We recommend using a trackable shipping service, as we cannot guarantee receipt of returned items without tracking.
Once we receive your returned item, our team will inspect it within 2–3 business days and notify you by email about the status of your refund.
Approved refunds are processed to your original payment method via our secure payment processor (Stripe). You can expect the funds to appear in your account within 5–14 business days, depending on your bank or card issuer.
Original shipping costs are non-refundable unless the return is due to our error.

Tigemi currently ships exclusively to the United States; the standard return process described above applies to all orders. If an international order has been arranged on an exceptional basis through our customer care team, the same 30-day return window applies, but the customer remains responsible for all return shipping costs, customs duties, and taxes associated with returning items, unless the item was defective or incorrect. International refunds may take longer to process depending on your location and bank.
