Provenance
Each TIGEMI piece is designed by Meriem Chrrouhi in Marrakech and then crafted by a women’s cooperative using traditional hand-tufting techniques. The design process begins on paper, with each composition drawn by hand before it is translated into textile.
The hand-tufting process creates a raised, tactile surface with a depth that is impossible to achieve mechanically. Each tuft is individually knotted, giving the finished piece its distinctive sculptural quality.
